Links 1/2: The Wall Street Journal / -700 points stock fall; figuratively "drying in the sun" emulates "retirement plans on hold!" — both images suggest a plan to save an investment.

Links 2/3: Though the retirement plans are on hold / we can see from the vacation brochures that plans were under way — that phone numbers were marked and reservations probably had been made. In this verse there is a juxtaposition of opposite images.

Links 3/1: Wall Street Journal / vacation brochures: two sets of printed materials — The Wall Street Journal, a daily newspaper devoted to investments and trading of stock — a business orientated document which is juxtaposed with vacation brochures — a recreational advertisement — designed for pleasure — work contrasted with pleasure. In verse one the "drying...sun" / Verse 3 "a new moon" — the opposites of day and night. The final image, "a new moon suggests a bit of hopefulness which offers a stark contrast to the images of verses 1 and 2.
